Coursera, recently merged with Udemy to form one of the world's most comprehensive skills development platforms, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its infrastructure and AI enablement team. In this role, you will build, scale, and maintain the infrastructure and platform required for agentic AI solutions with organization-wide adoption. You'll lead architecture and technical design while ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability across systems serving millions of learners globally.
You will work closely with a cross-functional team including Software Engineers, AI Specialists, and Tech Innovation Strategists. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing infrastructure for production-grade agentic AI solutions, collaborating with Product Managers to scope requirements with focus on end-user impact, and setting high standards for engineering culture through code reviews, mentoring, and process improvement. You'll participate in sprint planning, technical grooming, and retrospectives while owning technical decisions throughout the software development lifecycle.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend and cloud infrastructure expertise, plus 1+ years building production agentic AI solutions. You must be proficient in backend languages (Python, Java, Node.js, Go) and technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Kafka. Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform), and CI/CD solutions (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) is essential. Strong API design, E2E testing, and ability to lead projects with minimal supervision are required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with modern agentic AI technologies such as RAG, MCP, and LangGraph, plus demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
