CLEAR is building a secure identity platform serving 43+ million members globally, transforming how people experience security at airports, stadiums, and in daily life. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Network Engineering team and accelerate development of next-generation infrastructure supporting our identity platform.
You will own the design and implementation of software-defined networking solutions on AWS, making it seamless for engineers to build and deploy scalable, reliable systems. Key responsibilities include enhancing our Kubernetes compute platform with new networking capabilities, integrating AWS services (VPCs, Route Tables, Security Groups, ALBs/ELBs, Route53), and implementing service mesh solutions like Istio for optimized service communication. You'll collaborate across engineering teams to establish observability best practices using tools like Splunk or Datadog, ensuring robust network monitoring. Acting as a product owner for infrastructure, you'll gather feedback from engineering teams to identify pain points and develop cloud-native solutions.
You bring 6+ years of infrastructure and platform development experience, with deep expertise in software-defined networking and AWS cloud services. You're proficient in production-grade Python development and have strong hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, EKS, and ECS. Your skillset includes cloud-native design principles, AWS networking architecture, Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation), and traditional networking concepts (BGP, RIP, ISO layers). You have experience with networking appliances like Palo Alto, reverse proxies (Nginx), API Gateway solutions, and CDN/edge computing platforms (Cloudflare, Fastly). You're committed to continuous improvement, possess strong Linux systems knowledge, and approach challenges with an eye toward reliability, simplicity, and scalability.
