Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SET) to own end-to-end test strategy, execution, and quality assurance for the Okta Verify macOS application. This is a critical role filling a gap as the platform scales to support advanced Apple feature sets.
You will work closely with local engineers and cross-functional US-based mentors to design, build, and optimize scalable automation frameworks that replace manual testing for macOS authentication components. The role requires deep understanding of macOS system internals, native app architecture, and automated validation of desktop integrations including MDM enrollment, Pluggable Authentication Modules, and hardware-bound cryptography.
Key responsibilities include:
**Test Automation Framework Architecture**: Design, maintain, and expand highly reusable test automation frameworks and performance suites for native macOS applications. Develop automated functional and integration tests covering OS-level components, network interception, and security configurations. Lead initiatives to systematically eliminate flaky UI tests and improve CI/CD stability.
**Quality Engineering & Product Strategy**: Embed early into product ideation and technical architecture discussions with SDEs, Product Managers, and Architects. Drive comprehensive test planning and execution for Okta Verify macOS. Build automated infrastructure to streamline complex testing scenarios, such as migrating legacy Objective-C components to modern Swift.
**CI/CD & DevOps Integration**: Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI) for rapid, deterministic automated gates. Partner with Infrastructure and SRE teams to optimize test environments and maintain robust regression detection.
**Required qualifications**: 5+ years in Software Engineering in Test roles with at least 1+ years focused on native macOS desktop application automation. Strong coding skills in Swift, Objective-C, Java, or Python. Deep understanding of macOS development paradigms, XCTest/XCUITest, application sandboxing, and Apple developer tools. Hands-on expertise with cross-platform automation tools, UI testing frameworks, and API validation engines (REST, gRPC, WebSockets). Direct experience with CI/CD infrastructure and test environment management.
