Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test to join its Quality Engineering team in Bengaluru. This is an operations-focused role within Cloud Operations and Infrastructure, where you will drive test automation for cloud-native, mission-critical SaaS infrastructure.
You will work in a distributed, agile environment partnering closely with Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), Developer Productivity teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. Your primary focus will be automating cloud infrastructure testing, building tools to eliminate manual testing effort, and providing quality assurance services across multiple teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing test automation for functional and non-functional testing of cloud infrastructure and applications
- Developing test cases, test plans, and test scripts for integrated and end-to-end system testing
- Building tools and frameworks to facilitate QA/testing tasks and reduce manual effort
- Collaborating with developers, SREs, product management, and support teams to identify defects and ensure timely resolution
- Setting up and maintaining test configurations and lab environments
- Providing on-call support for the SaaS platform
- Identifying improvements in the test automation process and staying current with industry trends
- Working with monitoring tools and cloud infrastructure to diagnose and resolve issues
This role emphasizes automation, scalability, and quality in a fast-paced environment. Experience with AI/ML solutions in testing and Agentic AI is a significant plus.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience working on cloud providers (AWS/GCP); cloud certifications preferred
- 5+ years of experience as a quality engineer or software engineer
- 2+ years of experience in a SaaS-based environment
- 5+ years of experience with test automation development of integrated tests
- 3+ years of experience developing and executing end-to-end or system test plans
- 2+ years of experience setting up and maintaining test configurations and lab environments
- Proficiency with programming languages: golang, python, ruby, or shell scripting
- Experience with containerization, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Strong Linux command-line skills
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, Grafana, Kibana)
- On-call support experience, ideally in SaaS environments
- Exposure to performance testing
- Understanding of scalable design principles
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or closely related technical field from a highly reputable institution
- Specialized training in SDLC and cloud technology certifications desirable
