Lila Sciences is building Scientific Superintelligence to solve major scientific challenges by combining advanced AI models with proprietary AI Science Factory instruments. This role sits on the Independent Verification & Validation team, stewarding software quality and testing for autonomous lab systems where software meets real robotics hardware. You will own the full testing stack for a complex, integrated platform: building fast, reliable Python automation (pytest, Playwright) wired into CI/CD pipelines; designing and executing Hardware-in-the-Loop tests that validate platform software against real and simulated robotics hardware; defining V&V processes and test plans that map requirements to coverage across the software-to-hardware boundary; and creating UI tests for internal dashboards and orchestration interfaces that drive the factory. Key responsibilities include automating test suites across unit, API, and UI layers; managing test data and fixtures for reproducibility; isolating and eliminating flakiness in regression testing; and partnering with platform, simulation, and human-factors engineers to catch failures in test rather than on the bench. You'll need 4–8 years in software test or QA automation for complex, integrated systems; hands-on expertise in Python (pytest) and modern UI frameworks (Playwright); strong V&V and test strategy skills; CI/CD integration experience (GitHub Actions or similar); and a mindset for testing across service, UI, and hardware boundaries, including nondeterministic behavior. Hardware-in-the-Loop experience, simulation/digital-twin testing, test infrastructure work, and systems engineering background in regulated industries (aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare/life sciences) are strong bonuses. Familiarity with GAMP 5, FDA CSA, 21 CFR Part 11, or DO-178C is a plus.
