Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I/II for Simulation Engineering to join the Space Systems team in Littleton, CO. This role focuses on architecting large-scale distributed simulation environments and conducting high-level data analysis to solve complex aerospace challenges.
You will architect and deploy large-scale, distributed simulation environments for complex aerospace systems, including multi-vehicle and constellation-level modeling. Key responsibilities include developing robust data pipelines to process, analyze, and visualize massive datasets generated by high-fidelity simulations, and deriving actionable engineering and mission-level insights through advanced statistical analysis and data modeling of simulation outputs.
You will optimize simulation performance and scalability across cloud and on-premises infrastructure, collaborate with cross-functional teams (flight dynamics, mission design, spacecraft engineering) to translate technical requirements into simulation architecture, and support critical mission decision-making processes through data-driven analysis.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in big data analysis, distributed computational modeling, and software systems architecture, with experience solving constellation-level technical problems. You should thrive in fast-paced environments building real hardware for meaningful missions in the space industry.
Rocket Lab's Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions, ranging from interplanetary exploration and in-space manufacturing to national security and defense initiatives. The team builds spacecraft, payloads, and components for missions to the Moon and Mars, working with partners including NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force.
