Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I or II to join the Digital Engineering team at our Littleton, Colorado headquarters. You will develop next-generation simulation and modeling tools that support aerospace systems, including flight software and ground software capabilities for space missions.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain simulation and modeling tools for aerospace systems. Key responsibilities include designing mission-level wargaming tools spanning space, air, and ground domains; developing products for analyzing laser communication constellation networks; and creating application software using web technologies that runs across Windows and Linux platforms. You will apply UI/UX best practices to build intuitive user interfaces for simulation and configuration tools, collaborate with cross-functional teams on requirements and system architecture, and participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR). You will also conduct code reviews, optimize software performance for large-scale simulations, and contribute to technical specifications.
The tech stack includes .NET, C#, Angular (or React/Vue), TypeScript/JavaScript, RESTful APIs, and relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server, SQLite). You will work on projects supporting NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force, with applications ranging from interplanetary exploration to national security initiatives.
For Senior Software Engineer I: 5+ years of software development experience, focus on simulation, modeling, or aerospace systems. For Senior Software Engineer II: 8+ years of experience in the same domains. Both levels require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, proficiency in C#/.NET and modern frontend frameworks, strong database knowledge, and solid grasp of OOP principles and design patterns. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
