Salary: USD 144,000 - 240,000 / annual
Lila Sciences is building Scientific Superintelligence to solve major challenges through autonomous labs powered by AI and proprietary instruments. As a Senior Software Engineer in Robotics, you will own the back-end and data foundations that enable autonomous lab operations at scale.
You will design and build scheduling systems that allocate experiments, instruments, and compute across autonomous labs using durable Temporal workflows. You'll model digital twins to help teams predict factory behavior before committing resources. Core responsibilities include building the data management layer—Flyte pipelines, S3 lakehouse, and PostgreSQL models—that transforms raw instrument output into governed, trustworthy data that scientists can rely on.
You'll enable data science teams by shipping batch and event-driven pipelines, create customer-facing capacity planning services, and operate services on AWS EKS with Docker, Terraform, and GitHub Actions as the factory scales.
Required: 4–8 years of back-end engineering with production Python services (FastAPI); hands-on data engineering with workflow orchestrators (Flyte, Temporal, or similar); data modeling across SQL (PostgreSQL), object storage (S3), and lakehouse architectures; cloud-native delivery on AWS EKS with containers and infrastructure-as-code; and end-to-end ownership from design through reliability.
Bonus experience includes systems engineering in regulated industries (aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare—21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA+, GAMP 5, ISA-95); robotics, lab automation, LIMS, or manufacturing/MES; scheduling and optimization; data-science enablement (Ray, Weights & Biases); and event-driven messaging (NATS, MQTT).
