Salary: USD 180,000 - 215,000 / annual
Bitwarden is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to lead iOS development on its Mobile team. You will own the native iOS Bitwarden application, working across the organization to maintain feature parity and drive technical excellence.
Key responsibilities include becoming an expert on the iOS codebase and serving as a technical authority within the domain. You will design and implement large, complex initiatives with minimal supervision, often proposing novel solutions to intricate, multi-faceted problems. You'll lead architectural discussions, present designs with clear trade-offs, and partner with your Tech Lead and Engineering Manager on major decisions.
You will investigate and resolve the most complex bugs, provide comprehensive code reviews that identify architectural and performance concerns, and use reviews as teaching opportunities. You'll advocate for technical standards around performance, scalability, and maintainability, helping establish best practices across the team.
Mentorship is a core part of this role. You will mentor other engineers, contribute to their career development, take an active role in hiring (leading technical interviews), and help raise the technical bar. You'll also proactively identify technical debt and risks, plan mitigations, and communicate potential delays.
You bring demonstrated expertise in developing complex iOS applications with Swift and SwiftUI, strong understanding of iOS UI/UX design and architecture principles, and familiarity with unit testing, UI testing, and snapshot testing. Experience with iOS Extensions, TestFlight, and generative AI coding platforms like Claude Code is valued. You have proven ability to work independently on ambiguous requirements, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively across functions (QA, Product, Design). Excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and enthusiasm for open source and internet security are essential.
