Salary: USD 201,875 - 250,000 / annual
Carta is a connected platform and AI-native ecosystem for private capital, serving 55,000 companies, 1.8M+ equity holders across 160+ countries, and managing $250B+ in assets under administration. The KYC (Know Your Customer) team builds the compliance infrastructure powering every transaction in private markets—from LP onboarding to tender offers to transaction-level screening for PE. The team screens over 1.5 million entities annually, making it one of the highest-volume compliance operations in the space.
You will join a small, senior team currently re-architecting fragmented products into a unified KYC platform—part greenfield build, part strategic integration. Your judgment will directly shape the outcome as you blend startup-style execution with production-scale rigor.
In this role, you will lead technically complex projects and serve as a multiplier for your team:
• Drive Implementation: Lead execution of complex technical projects from concept to production, maintaining high standards for performance and reliability.
• Simplify Systems: Dig deep into architecture to identify opportunities to simplify code and infrastructure, prioritizing changes with measurable business impact.
• Leverage Modern Tooling: Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate workflow, improve code quality, and focus on high-level logic and unconventional problems.
• Foster Growth: Act as mentor and coach, raising the technical bar for peers through diligent PR reviews and architectural guidance.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product and design to ensure building the right solution for users, not just following specification.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience with (or desire to learn) core technologies: Python, Django, React, Postgres, and Kafka; also utilize Java, gRPC, and AWS
• Ability to break down complex user stories into actionable tasks and execute with minimal guidance
• Strategic mindset: understand the "why" behind code and articulate technical trade-offs to stakeholders
