Carta is a connected platform and AI-native ecosystem for private capital, serving 55,000 companies and 1.8M+ equity holders globally. The Developer Experience (DevEx) team is a specialized unit within Infrastructure focused on removing friction from the software delivery lifecycle. As a Senior Software Engineer II on DevEx, you will architect and build the foundational systems that enable Carta's company-wide AI-native development strategy. Your responsibilities include: - Design and implement MCP servers, agents, and plugin infrastructure that define patterns for AI-native development across the organization - Build purpose-built AI agents to solve specific developer problems across the full software delivery lifecycle - Architect and drive CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, and deployment, accelerating delivery across R&D - Create the infrastructure layer that AI tooling runs on, enabling other engineers to build confidently on top of it - Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through code reviews and architectural guidance You'll work on a lean "Special Ops" team that measures everything and thinks systematically about optimization. The team owns CI/CD infrastructure, GitHub governance across 500+ repositories, AI coding tool rollout, and internal tooling that enables speed without breaking things. Required qualifications: - 8+ years in platform, backend, or fullstack engineering - Shipped production LLM systems (MCP servers/clients, AI extensions, connectors, or agents solving real problems) - Platform mindset: build things other engineers build on, prioritize APIs and developer ergonomics alongside performance - Proficiency in Python or Java; experience with CI/CD tools (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, Docker); cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes) - Security-aware approach to developer tooling design (least-privilege, token lifecycle, supply chain risks) - Ability to break down ambiguous problems and deliver with minimal guidance, using data to inform decisions
