Narvar powers post-purchase experiences for hundreds of millions of consumers across 1,500+ brand partners. The company's data infrastructure handles package tracking, returns, delivery notifications, and merchant analytics at scale. As Senior Software Engineer II, Data, you'll own and evolve the pipelines, platforms, and data products that power Narvar's analytics, ML, and merchant-facing systems.
You'll work across the full data stack—from ingestion and transformation through to the analytics surfaces merchants use daily. Key responsibilities include designing and operating data pipelines processing terabytes of transactional data using Airflow/Composer and BigQuery; owning end-to-end data models and transformations for merchant analytics and ML features; building embedded analytics infrastructure that merchants interact with directly; evolving the data platform on GCP (BigQuery, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, CDC datastreams); and improving data quality through testing, observability, and validation frameworks. You'll also own data lineage and metadata, preparing the data layer for agentic and LLM-powered use cases with semantic clarity and standardized metrics. Cross-functional collaboration with product, ML, and GTM teams is expected, along with contributions to technical direction through design docs and architecture decisions.
Ideal candidates have 5–8 years building and operating production data systems, strong SQL and Python skills, and experience with modern cloud data stacks (GCP preferred). You should understand data modeling deeply (dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions, incremental processing), treat data quality and observability as first-class concerns, and already use AI and agentic coding tools as core parts of your workflow. Experience in startup environments, embedded analytics, multi-tenant data products, and making data accessible to AI systems are strong signals. The role is fully remote but requires Canada-based location and availability within EST/EDT hours.
