Bitwarden is a trusted identity security platform serving millions of users worldwide with password management, secrets management, and passwordless authentication solutions. As a Senior Software Engineer II on the Auth team, you will own the core authentication systems across Bitwarden's multi-platform ecosystem—web, desktop, browser extensions, CLI, and mobile apps. Your responsibilities include building and maintaining authentication code in the shared Rust core library, Angular clients, and IdentityServer backend. You'll scope and refine upcoming initiatives through cross-team collaboration, design and document forward-looking solutions, and contribute constructively to both synchronous and asynchronous team discussions. You'll provide thorough code reviews, triage and resolve bugs from the community and customers, and manage core dependency updates to maintain security and stability. You bring extensive experience developing in Angular with .NET experience as a strong plus. You're familiar with integrating Rust into other clients using WASM and UNIFFI bindings, and understand modern web authentication concepts including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and WebAuthn. You have strong technical writing skills and can clearly communicate complex problems. Knowledge of modern encryption techniques and secure development principles is valued. You're collaborative, adaptable, and genuinely excited about open source and internet security. The role requires excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail—authentication is critical infrastructure. The interview process includes meetings with the recruiting manager, the Auth team engineering manager and platform group manager, and a panel interview with the Auth team. This is a fully remote role for US-based candidates; visa sponsorship is not available.
