DeepL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Identity and Access Management team. You will own the full identity stack—organization, account and session management, SSO federation, SCIM provisioning, and OIDC provider—for both internal and external users. This is a business-critical foundation that every DeepL product depends on for secure, scalable authentication and authorization.
Your responsibilities include architecting and building complex, user-facing features across the identity stack, owning systems end-to-end from problem definition through architectural design, deployment, and production reliability. You will measure success by user impact and will lead incident response while continuously raising the bar on code quality and operational health.
You'll collaborate closely with teammates across Identity, product teams, Product Management, and Support to lead designs, scoping, and solutions to hard technical challenges. The role emphasizes technical pragmatism—choosing technologies (primarily C#/.NET Core, Kubernetes, Postgres) that solve customer problems most effectively while ensuring long-term maintainability. You'll leverage AI-powered tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to accelerate velocity and eliminate repetitive work, freeing your cognitive energy for high-value architectural decisions.
The ideal candidate demonstrates extreme ownership and operational excellence, treating production systems with the reliability standards of four nines. You have deep expertise designing scalable backend systems and distributed architectures at scale, with roughly 80–90% of work being backend-focused (React/JavaScript frontend experience is a welcome plus). You think systemically about failure modes, system boundaries, and architectural impact. You're genuinely curious about B2B SaaS identity challenges—authentication, authorization, security, and auditing—understanding these as pillars of enterprise trust, not boring details. You own your services end-to-end, including on-call responsibilities, and treat incidents as learning opportunities.
