Salary: USD 115,000 - 155,000 / annual

Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for missions ranging from interplanetary exploration to national security and defense. The Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions and builds everything from complete spacecraft and precision payloads to components like solar panels, flight software, star trackers, optical systems, and radios. The Senior Software Engineer – Customer Solutions role is based in Littleton, CO and serves as a key technical interface between Rocket Lab's space software customers and internal engineering and management teams. This position supports the Business Development organization with deliverables for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors. Key responsibilities include: - Provide technical support to customers and develop interactive product demonstrations of Rocket Lab's space software products - Generate proposals for new business opportunities in collaboration with business development and engineering teams - Lead efforts to attract new business to established products - Monitor business performance, forecast demand, and present findings to Finance and Executive teams - Collaborate with Communications and Business Development on marketing materials - Improve and standardize customer-facing product technical documentation - Stay current on satellite competitive landscape, customer demand trends, and market dynamics to support forecasting, pricing decisions, and product roadmap development - Monitor product costs to inform pricing and design/process trade decisions - Travel to conferences and customer locations to lead component business development activities This role blends technical engineering expertise with business development and customer-facing responsibilities, requiring someone who can translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and drive commercial success for space systems products. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline - 5+ years of professional experience in an engineering role within the aerospace industry - US citizenship required due to program requirements (ITAR compliance) NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles operating in harsh environments such as satellites - Experience with satellite operations - Proficiency in C++, Python, or similar programming languages - Strong organizational skills and ability to solve problems independently with attention to detail - Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams - Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to customers, staff, and executives - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Sales management experience and familiarity with sales, marketing, public relations, finance, and operations - Extensive awareness of current commercial and government satellite programs - Experience working with dynamic, geographically dispersed teams on fast-paced projects - Ownership mentality and ability to manage challenging situations - Experience with customer relationship management software - Master's degree in aerospace engineering or related field (electrical, mechanical, computer science, etc.)
