Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for missions ranging from interplanetary exploration to national security. The Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions, working with NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force.
As Senior Software Engineer I for Manufacturing Execution System (MES), you'll be based in Albuquerque, NM and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Technicians teams to develop full-stack software solutions that improve critical Rocket Lab operations. You'll work on the in-house MES platform and tools that integrate with the ERP system, leveraging relational databases and REST APIs in a service-oriented architecture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating across the full stack (frontend, backend, database administration, UI/UX, DevOps, SRE)
- Developing software using best practices: automated testing, code reviews, Agile methodologies, and Jira
- Managing code with Git version control and maintaining thorough documentation
- Providing user support and ensuring seamless integration with related technical systems
- Solving complex engineering challenges with innovative solutions
Required qualifications:
- Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience
- Strong Git skills
- Proficiency in C# and TypeScript
- Operational knowledge of Angular (or similar frontend framework), .NET (or similar backend framework), SQL, and HTML/CSS
- Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills
Nice-to-have qualifications include proficiency in RabbitMQ, Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and experience in aerospace domains (Launch Operations, ERP, QMS, PLM).
The role involves prolonged periods of computer work and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
