Coder is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its Agentic Engineering team, building production systems that power AI-driven development workflows. You'll work across the agent harness, integrations, and workflows that connect agents with real development environments, staying hands-on while solving complex technical problems in collaboration with Product, Design, and fellow engineers.
Key responsibilities include designing and building production systems primarily in Go (with React and TypeScript as needed), improving agent execution and tool use, extending the provider-agnostic architecture as models evolve, and building reliable integrations between agents, workspaces, tools, and developer infrastructure. You'll own projects from implementation through rollout and iteration, contribute to design and code reviews, partner with Product and Design to translate agent capabilities into useful developer experiences, and improve the reliability, performance, and operability of agentic systems.
Required qualifications: strong experience building and operating production software systems, hands-on Go experience, React and TypeScript proficiency, experience with LLMs or agentic workflows, familiarity with model APIs and agent loops, understanding of distributed systems and production reliability, working knowledge of AWS, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative approach to code reviews and knowledge sharing.
Bonus experience includes building coding agents or developer tools, familiarity with MCP or multi-agent systems, experience with remote execution and sandboxing, integrations across multiple model providers, AWS/Kubernetes/Docker expertise, and open-source contributions.
Tech stack: Go and Postgres backend, TypeScript and React frontend, AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, Prometheus and Grafana for observability, GitHub Actions for CI/CD. The role requires Eastern Time Zone presence for team overlap. Coder is Series B funded and provides self-hosted, agent-ready workspaces for enterprises to run secure, governed development workflows.
