SingleStore is a venture-backed, cloud-native database company headquartered in San Francisco with global offices. The Helios team builds and operates SingleStore's managed service platform, which runs thousands of database clusters across AWS, Azure, and GCP using Kubernetes.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Helios team, you will own release-defining projects at the intersection of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, and database technology. The role offers true end-to-end ownership across the control plane, data plane, operator, networking, storage, and customer portal.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading technical design and decision-making for large projects impacting SingleStore's cloud platform
- Designing and implementing new capabilities across networking, control plane, and managed service infrastructure, including multi-cloud and multi-region architecture, secure connectivity, identity, and storage
- Solving complex, mission-critical system problems with solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and resilient across thousands of tenants
- Investigating, debugging, and fixing production issues in distributed systems, including elusive bugs and cross-cloud asymmetries
Required experience:
- 4+ years developing and debugging system-level software in Golang, C++, or Rust
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud services
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated ability to design and build highly reliable, high-performance system software
- Track record of leading non-trivial projects from design through production rollout
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of database architecture and operating systems, familiarity with Kubernetes, hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and experience with workflow engines, observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform/Terragrunt).
Note: This role is open across multiple levels (Senior, Staff, or Principal), with final leveling determined based on experience, scope of impact, and demonstrated technical leadership during the interview process.
