Salary: USD 184,000 - 208,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead hardware test frameworks across their spacecraft development lifecycle. You will own the architecture, standards, and technical roadmap for test software used from module-level through fully assembled spacecraft validation.
Key responsibilities include designing and building Python-based test frameworks and tooling; writing drivers and abstractions for test instruments (power supplies, DAQs, oscilloscopes, environmental chambers, RF equipment); architecting test results databases and user interfaces; building standardized, mission-tailored spacecraft-level tests; partnering with subsystem teams to drive adoption; integrating frameworks with CI/CD and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure; and mentoring engineers on code quality.
You will be a hands-on technical leader who bridges hardware and software—equally comfortable architecting clean Python frameworks and debugging test instruments at the bench. The role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership, expert-level Python proficiency, working knowledge of electronics and lab equipment, and experience developing software that controls and tests physical hardware (VISA/SCPI, serial, CAN, Ethernet drivers).
Nice-to-have skills include aerospace hardware testing experience, embedded C/C++ familiarity, hardware-in-the-loop simulation, pytest frameworks, and results/time-series databases (SQL, InfluxDB, Grafana). A B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field is required.
