Chainalysis is the blockchain data platform trusted by organizations worldwide to investigate illicit activity, manage risk, and develop innovative market solutions. As a Senior Software Engineer within the Investigations team, you'll take ownership of technical direction and drive the design, build, and maintenance of customer-facing web features and their backing APIs and services.
You'll lead the architecture and development of cloud-native data ingest and aggregation processes handling gigabytes of data daily on AWS. You'll own and scale high-performance services managing thousands of requests per second, drive the team's modernization toward streaming architecture, and own the graphing platform used across multiple products to visualize blockchain insights and data.
Key responsibilities include: designing and implementing cloud-native services-based systems; delivering features that detect market manipulation, fraud, and behavioral patterns; debugging and resolving production issues across multiple systems; mentoring engineers and fostering technical excellence; and partnering closely with product managers and designers to deliver scalable solutions.
You should have proven experience leading design and implementation of cloud-native services in AWS or GCP, a strong track record mentoring engineers and driving design decisions at senior level, and deep experience with object-oriented programming (Java and TypeScript preferred). You'll need strong full-stack capabilities, excellent ownership mindset from inception through production, and ideally experience integrating AI into customer-facing products or infrastructure.
The role emphasizes AI fluency as core to how Chainalysis operates—not as a feature but as a way of working. You're expected to develop AI capabilities independently, bring ideas, and collaborate across teams to reinvent workflows. Technologies include Java (Spring Boot), TypeScript (React, Angular), Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform, and PostgreSQL.
