You'll join Chiron, a core R&D team within Checkmarx that owns critical platform domains including project/application management and risk management. This team builds the backend systems that help customers understand and act on their security posture.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be a core contributor with significant ownership of backend capabilities. The role is backend-first and Go-centric, though you'll also work with React frontend when features require it.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and develop functional and technical capabilities within large-scale, distributed backend systems, making architecture and design decisions
- Own features and product areas end-to-end: architecture, coding, testing, CI/CD, and production observability
- Build and operate distributed microservices using gRPC/REST APIs, message queues, and PostgreSQL, deployed on Kubernetes
- Build and maintain React components and pages (risk tables, single-risk views) that consume backend services when needed
- Partner with the QA team on test automation, contributing to backend automation in Go and frontend automation in Cypress
- Use AI-assisted coding tools in daily development workflows for writing, reviewing, and testing code
- Collaborate effectively with local and remote, multi-geo R&D and non-R&D teams with high visibility and communication
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Participate actively in design discussions and code reviews, maintaining high execution and quality standards
Quality is a shared responsibility; while QA owns most test automation, team members regularly contribute to keep coverage moving and avoid bottlenecks.
