Flock Safety is building video management software for law enforcement and security agencies. This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on frontend and fullstack web development for Flock's Cloud Video team, supporting real-time situational awareness for agencies responding to critical incidents.
You will architect and execute frontend web applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js, with a primary focus on frontend web execution while maintaining fullstack context. Key responsibilities include building low-latency, interactive live video playback features and real-time alert dashboards, implementing UI performance optimizations for smooth experiences across devices and browsers, designing clean APIs connecting web clients to cloud video microservices, and collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and backend teams.
The role requires demonstrated frontend development expertise with deep mastery of React, TypeScript, and Node.js. You should have capability to diagnose and optimize UI performance in data-heavy, real-time applications, practical understanding of web API design and client-server communication, and working familiarity with cloud tooling (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes). Prior video domain expertise is not required—the company will teach you the video space as long as you have strong frontend application capabilities.
This is not a backend-only role, nor is it a static UI design position. You will write production-grade web code, optimize streaming performance, and ship features into high-traffic live environments. Flock has over $1B in funding, 1,700 employees, and supported over 1 million criminal investigations last year while helping locate more than 10,000 missing people.
