TRM Labs is an AI-powered intelligence platform helping public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt financial crime. The Full-Stack Product Engineering team builds comprehensive features and frameworks for both external customers and internal teams to execute and scale TRM's business. In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will design and build reliable, scalable full-stack systems that serve all TRM customers. You'll take ownership of complex engineering problems—from backend API design to web application architecture—while developing project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. As an early team member, you'll be deeply involved in technical decisions and operational processes that drive velocity, quality, and impact. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and building scalable systems, web applications, APIs, and services (backend primarily Node.js, though language flexibility is valued) - Developing and maintaining public APIs as part of the API Product suite - Collaborating with stakeholders to translate functional vision into tangible roadmaps with clear outcomes - Supporting internal business units through shared engineering services - Understanding customer pain points and bridging needs to technical and product requirements - Designing systems with deep knowledge of storage systems (relational databases like Postgres, analytical databases) You'll work in a team operating on weekly sprints with a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and trust. The team spans EST and PST timezones with at least 6 hours daily overlap (8 am–2 pm PST). On-call rotation occurs approximately once every 4–6 weeks, covering PagerDuty alerts and customer support triage. TRM values ruthless prioritization, rapid adaptation to new information, challenging timelines with ownership of delivery speed, and time-boxed spiking for de-risking decisions early. The role is based in San Francisco with an expectation of at least 3 days per week in-office collaboration.
