Sidecar Health is transforming health insurance by making excellent healthcare affordable and accessible. The company brings together tech leaders, policy makers, and healthcare professionals united by a mission to fix a broken system and make it more personalized, affordable, and transparent. You'll join the Member Experience engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer, building the products members use daily to find care, understand benefits, submit claims, and manage health plans. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you own the full product experience—from backend APIs to member-facing interfaces. You'll work directly with product and design to ship features that improve healthcare accessibility, leveraging AI tools as a core part of your development process. Key responsibilities include: - Build and ship full-stack features end-to-end across member-facing web applications - Work primarily in TypeScript across the entire stack - Own deployments from pull request to production using GitHub Actions CI/CD and Vercel - Design scalable systems with deliberate architectural tradeoffs between performance, maintainability, and shipping speed - Build AI-powered member experiences by integrating LLM APIs and working with agent frameworks (e.g., Eve, Strands) - Write clean, well-tested, production-grade code with high quality standards - Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into software - Contribute to engineering standards through code reviews and technical leadership The role emphasizes bias for action, ownership, pragmatism, and resilience. You'll move fast, prioritize impact over polish, and work in an environment where healthcare complexity and mission-driven work matter deeply. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with full-stack ownership of production systems - Deep TypeScript expertise with strong React and Next.js experience building modern, responsive web applications - Comfort owning end-to-end deployments; experience with Vercel and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines - Habitual, fluent use of AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) as part of daily workflow - Experience building with LLMs (API integrations, agentic workflows, frameworks like Eve or Strands) or strong drive to learn quickly - Solid fundamentals in system design, testing, debugging, and code review - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience - Must be based in California, Oregon, or Washington; role is not eligible for sponsorship Nice to haves: React Native experience, familiarity with Java, AWS experience.
