Kraken, one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms with over 10 million users, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Growth Engineering team. The Growth team builds the experiences that connect new users to Kraken's ecosystem—including marketing funnels, signup and KYC flows, and engagement features that drive activation and retention at global scale.
In this role, you'll take on complex, high-impact problems that blend product thinking with engineering excellence. You'll work across web and mobile platforms, collaborating with product managers, designers, and data analysts to deliver features that drive measurable business outcomes. Your responsibilities include partnering with cross-functional teams to identify growth opportunities and translate them into data-driven engineering solutions; implementing reusable services and components powering marketing campaigns, onboarding, and first-funding experiences; collaborating on distributed systems handling large volumes of global traffic; participating in design and architecture discussions; and using experimentation frameworks to understand user behavior.
You'll need 5+ years of software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems at scale. Proficiency in full-stack development using TypeScript, Rust, Go, Python, or Ruby combined with React or React Native is required. Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, debugging, and secure software design is essential. Familiarity with infrastructure tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, GitLab CI/CD) and a product mindset—caring about how your work moves key metrics—are critical. You should be able to operate autonomously in a globally distributed, remote-first environment.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with A/B testing, analytics instrumentation, experimentation platforms, growth engineering, user funnels, lifecycle optimization, or data analysis tools.
