Hinge Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the member-to-member referral growth team. This backend-heavy, full-stack role (~70% backend / 30% frontend) focuses on scaling referral mechanics, flows, and personalization that drive new member acquisition. The referral program has grown 2x year-over-year and is on track to generate $100M in ARR, with the team now overhauling the tech stack and investing heavily in ML. You will own large projects that introduce new product capabilities and act as a maintainer for key code repositories. Responsibilities include modernizing existing pipelines to scale with company growth, breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks, collaborating on technical strategy, mentoring junior engineers, and integrating AI technologies to enhance product features. You'll proactively improve system maintainability, availability, and performance while communicating technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The tech stack includes React Native, React, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, GraphQL, Docker, Rails, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux. The team operates with trunk-based CI/CD and maintains healthcare-grade security and compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, CCPA). Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 3+ years of professional software development experience, and proficiency in modern programming languages. You must demonstrate backend-heavy full-stack ownership with strong API and service expertise, plus confident frontend work in React/React Native. Experience with AI coding tools (Claude, Claude Code) and agentic workflows is expected as part of daily development. Preferred experience includes growth team background, incentive/rewards system design, personalization at scale with ML model integration, A/B testing infrastructure, and familiarity with regulated healthcare environments. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, requiring three days per week in-office for full 8-hour business days. The office features a dog-friendly workplace program, and occasional off-site events may occur.
