DeepL is building the Operating System for Global Communication, leveraging AI to deliver human-like translation, writing improvement, and real-time voice translation to 200,000+ businesses and millions of individuals globally. The company operates a rare full-stack AI infrastructure, training next-generation LLMs on proprietary NVIDIA DGX SuperPODs and delivering Language AI at scale across 228 markets. As a Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack), you will operate with founder-level agency, owning revenue-critical systems end-to-end—from problem definition and architectural design through deployment and production reliability. You will move beyond ticket-closing to drive measurable user and business impact. Key responsibilities include: (1) Owning outcomes, not just code—taking systems from conception through production with accountability for user impact; (2) Architecting for ambiguity—making high-stakes technical decisions (monolith vs. microservice, consistency vs. availability) with incomplete information and iterating based on real-world feedback; (3) Bridging engineering and business—translating technical constraints into business terms for Product Managers to negotiate effective trade-offs; (4) Driving technical pragmatism—choosing technologies that solve customer problems effectively and ensure long-term maintainability over short-term trends. You will work across DeepL's core stack (C#/.NET Core, Python, Kubernetes, React) or explore new tools as needed. Whether architecting the next-gen Voice API, scaling the billing engine, or enhancing the core product platform, you will own your domain completely. DeepL values system thinkers who understand failure modes and scale implications, engineers with high agency who unblock themselves and teams, product-fluent builders who ask "Why?" before coding, and polyglot developers comfortable across the full stack. The company emphasizes AI-native velocity—leveraging tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to eliminate repetitive work and focus cognitive energy on high-value architectural decisions. DeepL operates a Unified Engineering Pipeline, hiring for the company rather than specific teams. Strong candidates are matched to the highest-priority role fitting their skillset—whether Core Product, Platform, Voice, or Enterprise. The company prioritizes "Missionaries" solving the biggest problems across the stack.
