Customer.io is a communication platform used by over 9,000 companies to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS daily. The company helps teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data, powered by Go, React, Ember, and AI. As a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack), you will design, build, and ship core product experiences that customers rely on. You'll own problems end-to-end, moving fast and acting like an owner while thriving in ambiguity. The role emphasizes both technical excellence and product thinking—caring equally about frontend polish, backend performance, and overall customer experience. Key responsibilities include: - Building fullstack features in Go, React, and Ember that power key customer workflows - Collaborating with others to turn ideas into shipped customer value - Sharing knowledge and raising the bar through public content, writing, and mentorship - Evolving systems to scale with more customers, messages, and use cases - Using AI agents to make multi-file changes by scoping work, writing prompts, and verifying output You should have 7+ years of experience building and scaling backend services and product-facing features. Required skills include fluency in TypeScript, React (or similar), and a statically typed backend language like Go. You'll need proficiency with APIs, relational databases, and writing testable, performant code. The ideal candidate has a bias for action over perfection, strong product taste, and pride in owning technical decisions. Compensation is $150,000–$200,000 USD annually, depending on experience and market rate. Benefits include 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance; 16 weeks paid parental leave; unlimited PTO; remote work and wellness stipends; and a professional development budget.
