Brex is an intelligent finance platform serving tens of thousands of companies globally with corporate cards, banking, spend management, and AI-native automation. The Task Workflows Platform team is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to build and scale foundational infrastructure powering core experiences across the platform.
You will own complex full-stack challenges spanning backend API design, rule-evaluation engines for custom automations, and frontend UX for domain-specific task interfaces and workflow builders. Key responsibilities include designing scalable distributed systems, optimizing databases (SQL/NoSQL), building RESTful APIs and GraphQL services, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, design, sales, and support.
The role involves end-to-end ownership of features and products, from user experience and data modeling through scalability, operability, and metrics. You will provide technical leadership by driving roadmap direction, architectural design, and mentoring team members. You'll also work on leveraging AI to streamline user workflows and supporting continuous evolution of productivity tools across web and mobile platforms.
This is a hybrid position based in Seattle requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), with up to four weeks per year of fully remote work flexibility.
Required: 7+ years professional experience in full-stack product design and deployment; strong backend proficiency (Java, Kotlin, Python); experience architecting scalable, high-availability distributed systems; database design and optimization expertise; RESTful API/GraphQL experience; modern frontend skills (ES6+, React, TypeScript, Webpack).
Bonus: cross-functional collaboration experience, organization-wide initiative leadership, A/B testing and experimentation, AI developer tools familiarity.
