Salary: USD 192,000 - 240,000 / annual
Join Brex's Task Workflows Platform team as a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer. You'll build and scale foundational infrastructure powering core experiences across Brex's intelligent finance platform, which serves tens of thousands of companies including DoorDash, Coinbase, and Zoom.
In this role, you'll work across a comprehensive suite of platforms including a multi-channel notifications engine, collaborative commenting system, and dynamic workflow rule builder. You'll play a pivotal role in evolving task orchestration infrastructure, transitioning from centralized, generic experiences to highly tailored, purpose-built solutions for specific product domains.
You'll tackle complex full-stack challenges spanning backend API design, rule-evaluation engines for custom automations, and intuitive frontend UX for domain-specific task interfaces and workflow builders. You'll also leverage AI to streamline user workflows and support continuous evolution of productivity tools across web and mobile platforms.
Key responsibilities include owning problems end-to-end from user experience through data models, scalability, and operability; providing technical leadership by driving roadmap direction and architectural design; mentoring team members; collaborating with cross-functional teams including Sales and Support; and identifying reliability and performance improvements.
The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid structure requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), plus up to four weeks annually of fully remote work.
Requirements: 7+ years designing, developing, and deploying full-stack products; strong backend proficiency (Java, Kotlin, Python); experience architecting scalable, high-availability distributed systems; expertise in SQL/NoSQL database design and optimization; RESTful API and/or GraphQL experience; modern frontend skills (ES6+, React, TypeScript, Webpack). Bonus: cross-functional collaboration experience, organization-level initiative leadership, A/B testing, and AI developer tools.
