Scribd is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to build next-generation web product experiences for its core reading platform. The role sits within Core Scribd, which owns the Doc Page—the surface driving most subscription and ad revenue for the profitable business.
You'll ship production-critical frontend code, define architectural patterns for other teams to build upon, and partner cross-functionally with ML/AI, backend engineers, product, and design. Current work involves high collaboration to create AI/LLM-powered user experiences. The team is also bringing up a new Design System for the Scribd brand.
Key responsibilities include strong ownership of frontend systems from design through long-term evolution, systems thinking at scale, pragmatic modernization balancing ideal solutions with incremental progress, and excellent cross-functional collaboration. You'll operate in a high-traffic, high-visibility environment with real user impact.
Required: 6+ years professional frontend engineering, deep JavaScript/TypeScript and React expertise, hands-on Next.js or similar modern framework experience, familiarity with microfrontend architectures or monorepos, strong web performance and bundling knowledge, and excellent written/verbal communication.
Valued: experience with large legacy codebases, production modernization (not just greenfield), frontend architecture as a product for engineers, performance/accessibility/SEO/observability as first-class concerns, testing and quality practices for safe migrations, and deep consideration of how technical decisions affect developers and end users.
