Flock Safety is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend to lead the architectural evolution of their core Search product. This role sits at the intersection of frontend excellence and fullstack context, focusing on building intuitive, performant search interfaces that serve as the daily tool for law enforcement and community safety professionals.
You will own the frontend architecture and execution for Search features across a React, TypeScript, and Node web stack. Key responsibilities include partnering with product, design, and backend engineering to translate user research into performant experiences; building complex map-based data visualizations and geospatial interfaces to help users navigate high-density location data; championing frontend engineering standards through code reviews and mentorship; and optimizing client-side performance, state management, and data retrieval for high-traffic applications.
The role requires mastery of modern frontend technologies including React and TypeScript, with hands-on experience building map-based visualizations using Mapbox or Google Maps APIs. You should have fullstack working context with Node.js web services and modern API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), plus practical understanding of backend microservice patterns and relational databases like PostgreSQL. AWS managed services and frontend performance optimization experience is a plus.
This is a production-focused engineering role, not a design or prototyping position. You will write production-grade code, maintain web services, ship features directly, participate in customer calls, and mentor peers.
