Grove Collaborative is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with front-end expertise who can work across the full stack. This is a senior individual contributor role—you'll lead projects end-to-end but won't manage people or own org-wide technical strategy.
You'll own project leadership from ambiguous problem statements to shipped, measured outcomes. You'll make architectural calls, sequence work, and keep projects honest about tradeoffs. You'll partner closely with product managers and designers, bringing opinions about user experience, not just implementation. You'll champion performance, stability, accessibility, and maintainability across the code you ship.
Key responsibilities include ecosystem integration across third-party platforms (mobile apps, subscription services, analytics, search, loyalty), using AI-assisted development as a force multiplier while maintaining quality standards, partnering with UX Design on design system and component library scaling, working with analytics to validate shipped work, and championing testing, documentation, and workflows for the team.
You'll need 7+ years building production web applications with front-end as your strongest area. Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, modern component frameworks (React, Vue, Svelte), state management, and performance optimization for consumer-facing apps is essential. You're genuinely comfortable across the stack—APIs, data models, integrations, CI, browser, infrastructure. You learn new technologies quickly, are honest about knowledge gaps, lead projects (not just tickets), think like a designer and product person, work well collaboratively, and take pride in the experiences and code you ship.
