Salary: USD 180,000 - 250,000 / annual

As a Senior Software Engineer (Forward Deployed), you will be a hybrid AI engineer, software builder, and technical consultant. You'll work directly with clients and internal delivery teams to build and deploy AI-powered solutions end-to-end. Your responsibilities include scoping ambiguous technical problems, prototyping AI workflows, designing and implementing LLM-powered systems, and deploying scalable solutions on the Invisible platform.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with delivery leaders to scope technical solutions to operational problems
- Identify workflow optimizations through deep customer engagement and build stable, scalable solutions
- Design and implement AI workflows using LLMs, embedding models, retrieval systems, and automation tools
- Translate real-world constraints (inconsistent data, latency requirements) into elegant engineering solutions
- Iterate quickly based on real-time feedback from operators and clients
- Build reusable tooling and infrastructure to accelerate future deployments
- Own projects end-to-end from scoping through deployment
- Interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with significant time in data, ML, or backend systems
- Deep Python proficiency with hands-on experience in Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, Pinecone
- Full-stack and API deployment expertise: Docker, FastAPI, Kubernetes, GCP, AWS
- Experience with workflow orchestration, pub/sub systems (Kafka), schema governance
- Data management expertise: Unity Catalog, data governance, Delta/ETL pipelines, data contracts
- Strong product and system design instincts
- Experience building systems from messy data and ambiguous requirements
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Proven ability to own high-stakes projects in ambiguous environments
- Willingness to be on-call for customers
- Ability to travel ~25% (primarily North America, occasional international)
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience
