Foodics is a leading restaurant management ecosystem and payment technology provider founded in 2014, headquartered in Riyadh with offices across 5 countries (UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait) serving customers in over 35 countries. The company has processed over 6 billion orders and recently raised $170 million in the largest SaaS funding round in MENA.
You will be one of the first engineers building Foodics' new accounting platform from zero—a greenfield product that transforms merchant data already in Foodics (POS, payments, inventory) into clean, closed books without duplicate entry. The scope includes a general ledger, core accounting modules, ZATCA compliance, and deep integration into existing systems. The timeline is aggressive and ambiguity is high by design.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and build core accounting product components: general ledger, chart of accounts, journals, AP/AR, reconciliation, financial reporting
- Own the integration surface connecting inventory, payments, POS transaction flows, and regulatory e-invoicing
- Work full stack—no backend-only or frontend-only roles on a team this size
- Partner with a product manager and domain accountant to turn accounting requirements into system design
- Use AI tooling as a core part of development: evaluating reference systems, generating and reviewing code, accelerating delivery
- Make and defend architectural decisions early; financial data demands a strong foundation
- Ship in weeks, not quarters, and validate with real merchants
Requirements:
- 5+ years building production software with meaningful experience in accounting, ERP, or financial systems; deep understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, period close, and ledger architecture
- Strong full-stack engineering capability; comfortable owning features from schema to screen
- AI-native working style: daily use of agents and LLM tooling with judgment about trustworthiness and measurable productivity gains
- Proven track record shipping fast in early-stage or greenfield environments with small teams and short cycles
- Commitment to correctness in systems where errors are costly
- Ability to work substantially within GMT+3 timezone
Strong plus factors: product instinct and shaping what gets built; experience building or operating ledgers, double-entry engines, or transaction-processing systems at scale; fintech, banking, payments, or financial services background; familiarity with ERP platforms (ERPNext, Odoo, NetSuite, SAP) as builder, integrator, or user; experience with ZATCA e-invoicing or comparable regional tax/regulatory integrations; shipped AI-powered features; Arabic language skills.
