The Platform team owns the foundational infrastructure that every product team at Peregrine builds upon. The mission is to make Peregrine's infrastructure fast, resilient, secure, and cost-efficient while enabling other engineers to ship safely and quickly. Great infrastructure is invisible when working and clearly communicated when it isn't.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform team, you'll take ownership of moderately complex infrastructure problems and drive them from design through production. You'll build and ship initiatives that improve performance and reliability, reduce infrastructure costs, strengthen security posture, and enhance developer experience. Representative work includes: standing up new regions and customer environments with minimal manual effort as Peregrine scales; building autoscaling and right-sizing systems that cut cloud spend; strengthening reliability and incident response for mission-critical services; hardening platform security controls to meet public-sector compliance requirements; and creating paved-road tooling that lets product teams deploy, observe, and debug services without deep infrastructure expertise.
This is a hands-on role where you'll juggle several priorities without much day-to-day guidance, flag risks and status changes early, and weigh cost-effort tradeoffs. You'll also mentor less experienced engineers and weigh in on technical decisions beyond your immediate work. You'll tackle moderately complex, well-defined problems independently while thinking about how work threads into the wider system. You write clean, well-organized code, know when to extend existing patterns rather than build new, and see projects through from kickoff to completion, including debugging issues without obvious root causes.
