Gather AI is building a vision-powered platform using autonomous drones and existing warehouse equipment to digitize supply chain workflows. The company is pioneering warehouse intelligence that makes facilities operate smarter, safer, and more efficiently.
As Senior Software Engineer for Edge Systems, you'll own the software layer between drone and swapper hardware and the rest of the stack. This is a hands-on role focused on shortening the feedback loop between software changes and real hardware behavior. You'll work across the full robotics software stack: mobile applications, diagnostics and observability infrastructure, communication between robotics platform and central compute, OTA update systems, and cloud synchronization.
Key responsibilities include owning and improving the software stack supporting the drone and swapper platform; investigating and resolving production issues that require direct hardware access with minimal latency; building logging and diagnostics infrastructure for observability across mobile, cloud, and robotics layers; collaborating daily with Mobile, Autonomy, Backend, and QA teams; owning features end-to-end from investigation through deployment; and contributing to long-term architecture of a unified software platform.
When production issues arise, you'll be the engineer who walks to the lab, reproduces the problem, and ships a fix without waiting on remote resources or slow debugging cycles. This role requires 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping and supporting production systems, mobile application development in Swift (iOS preferred) and/or Kotlin (Android), strong debugging skills across complex multi-component systems, solid networking fundamentals (REST APIs, TCP/IP, WebSockets, MQTT), and comfort working directly with hardware during development and debugging.
Nice-to-have skills include robotics or embedded systems experience, Linux development/debugging, familiarity with OTA update systems and device management, and CI/CD experience for mobile or embedded applications.
