Lumana is an AI-powered video security platform founded in 2021 and backed by tier-one Silicon Valley investors. The company is one of the fastest-growing video security companies and recently raised the largest Series A in its industry.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Edge team, you will contribute to developing Lumana's core edge platform—the software that runs on the device layer powering the company's AI video security solution. You'll work within a small, highly impactful team responsible for a hybrid edge-cloud system that handles video, security, networking, storage, and AI deployment in production environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining the core edge platform designed to run across diverse hardware targets
- Building video management capabilities including streaming, recording, and real-time AI processing
- Designing and optimizing systems for low-latency, high-performance workloads at the edge
- Creating secure and efficient communication pipelines between edge devices and cloud systems
- Collaborating closely with AI/ML engineers to deploy and optimize models on-device
- Participating in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning
- Working with a talented team of engineers, AI experts, and leadership in a fast-moving startup environment
You should have 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on systems or performance-critical applications. Strong proficiency in modern languages (Go, Rust, or TypeScript), multithreaded/concurrent programming, Docker, embedded systems, and distributed systems fundamentals is required. Experience with real-time systems is critical.
Nice-to-have skills include video streaming development, edge storage systems, cloud service integration (AWS S3, GCP, MQTT, Kafka), AI/ML model optimization on edge devices, security concepts, and hardware-aware optimization.
The role is hybrid based in Caesarea or Ramat Gan with two remote workdays per week. Lumana values ownership, principled thinking, and thoughtful communication.
