Kargo is building smart infrastructure to connect the physical world of freight with digital logistics management systems. The company's loading dock sensor platform verifies incoming and outgoing freight in real time, aggregating data to help shippers and carriers optimize dock operations, manage suppliers, and understand material flow.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Edge team, you will design and build high-performance C++ systems that process gigabytes of data per second on edge devices. Your work will span machine vision, AI inference, and distributed device management at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop high-performance C++ systems for machine vision and AI on edge devices
- Build advanced perception systems using 3D computer vision
- Design agentic AI systems to deploy, manage, and monitor a fleet of edge devices in real-world environments
- Architect scalable software for distributed edge infrastructure and device management
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability across hardware and software layers
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to deliver production-ready solutions
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering best practices
You bring 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong C++ proficiency and modern development practices. You have production experience building systems on Linux and designing scalable, distributed software. Experience with computer vision, machine learning, AI, robotics, or edge computing is required. You hold a degree or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, with strong debugging and performance optimization skills.
