BillionToOne is a publicly traded genomics company transforming healthcare through precision diagnostics in prenatal and cancer testing. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team building digital experiences that make complex genetic testing accessible to clinicians and patients across diverse care settings.
You'll work on high-impact projects including: building seamless digital platforms for genetic testing access, digitizing paper-based workflows at OBGYN clinics, enabling portable electronic medical records, and creating joyful patient experiences around pregnancy diagnostics. This is a full-stack role where you'll collaborate with clinicians, computational biologists, product designers, and fellow engineers in an interdisciplinary environment.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining robust applications using React, TypeScript, Django, and PostgreSQL; collaborating with product and design teams to deliver delightful experiences; fostering knowledge sharing and mentoring colleagues; implementing comprehensive testing and quality standards; owning end-to-end project delivery; championing engineering excellence through architectural best practices; and ensuring security and compliance for sensitive patient data.
You'll bring 5+ years of professional software development experience with proven delivery of complex projects. Deep expertise required in modern frontend technologies (TypeScript, React, CSS-in-JS), frontend architecture best practices (component systems, npm workspaces, Storybook, Playwright), web frameworks like Django, and modern AI-driven development tools. Nice-to-haves include startup experience, zero-to-one product development, healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7), and LLM familiarity.
This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days per week onsite in Menlo Park. You'll work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment where innovation meets human compassion, directly impacting patients' lives through precision medicine at scale.
