Salary: USD 150,000 - 190,000 / annual
IPSY is a beauty subscription and discovery platform serving millions of members across multiple subscription tiers (Original, Extra, Ultimate). The Digital Experience team builds shared platform foundations—libraries, gateway services, mobile support, observability, experimentation/analytics, and AI enablement—that enable Frontend and product teams to ship reliably at scale.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain shared components and libraries using Next.js, TypeScript, and Chakra UI. You'll oversee Kong API Gateway services (including LUA scripting) and partner with Infrastructure teams on AWS, Netlify, and Jenkins deployments. You'll build and support the React Native mobile ecosystem, implement monitoring and observability using Datadog, and evolve the experimentation and analytics platform (Statsig, Amplitude) to help product teams measure engagement and run experiments. You'll drive performance improvements across platform services and contribute to AI enablement by building shared tooling and patterns for safe, efficient AI integration.
This is a platform engineering role for a strong TypeScript/React engineer who wants breadth across gateway services, mobile, observability, analytics, performance, and AI. You'll partner with Infrastructure, SRE, InfoSec, MarTech, and Frontend teams. The role reports to an Engineering Manager and is fully remote (available in 16 U.S. states where IPSY has business presence: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington). Note: portions of the interview and onboarding process may be conducted in person.
**Requirements:**
- 6+ years of experience developing platform or full-stack applications in JavaScript/TypeScript, with Next.js and React
- Experience designing and maintaining shared libraries, common services, or internal platform components used by multiple engineering teams
- Hands-on experience with Kong API Gateway, including LUA scripting
- Experience with AWS, CI/CD (Jenkins), and deployments on composable platforms such as Netlify or Vercel, in partnership with Infrastructure teams
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog), product analytics or experimentation platforms (e.g., Statsig and Amplitude), and performance measurement at scale
- Strong problem-solving skills with focus on building modern, scalable platform solutions
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort partnering with Infrastructure, SRE, and security stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
**Bonus:**
- Experience with Storybook, design systems, and component libraries such as Chakra UI
- Experience building platform tooling or integrations that enable AI-powered product capabilities
- Experience working in subscription and/or e-commerce companies
