JumpCloud is an AI-powered unified IT management platform that consolidates identity, device, and access management for modern organizations. This Senior Software Engineer role focuses on the Device Management (MDM/Endpoint Management) vertical, shifting from broad cloud microservices to deep expertise in operating system internals across macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
You will build software that enables IT administrators to remotely configure, patch, secure, and monitor thousands of endpoints from a single dashboard. The work spans cross-OS device management engines, mobile device management and Declarative Device Management (MDM/DDM) telemetry, custom system agents, and zero-touch enrollment pipelines. This role balances client-side programming (OS interaction) with high-availability cloud API development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Primarily developing with Go and Node.js for cross-platform applications on Windows, macOS, and Linux
- Building expertise in Windows services, kernels, Event Loggers, Mac Launch daemons, and macOS internals
- Collaborating with architects, UX designers, and DevOps to ensure highly available, scalable systems
- Working within a Scrum framework for agile development
- Learning and implementing mTLS protocols and security concepts
- Using OAuth/OIDC flows for secure authentication and service access
- Writing and automating unit, functional, and acceptance tests
- Contributing to Device Management services through strategic planning and scoping with product managers
- Mentoring junior team members
- Participating in on-call shifts for incident response
JumpCloud operates as a remote-first company with teams in 15+ countries. English fluency is required for interviews and internal business communication.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7–10 years of experience developing macOS, Windows, or Linux applications (including third-party integrations) in modern languages (Python, Java, or Golang); experience in at least one is mandatory
- Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitHub Actions) for building, testing, and deployment
- Knowledge of containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration
- Strong hands-on backend software or full-stack development experience (required)
- Working knowledge of Swift, C#, or C++ (advantageous)
- Working knowledge of device MDM (advantageous)
- Willingness to mentor junior team members
- Bonus: experience with Windows services, Event Logger, kernel internals, macOS Launch daemons, or app hosting
