Salary: USD 200,000 - 240,000 / annual
Skydio is the leading US autonomous drone company, serving defense, public safety, and enterprise customers. As a Senior Software Engineer in Developer Productivity, you'll join a cross-functional infrastructure team focused on enhancing the developer experience and engineering efficiency across the organization.
You will design and build scalable internal tools that empower engineers to write, test, and release software with confidence. Your work will span cloud infrastructure optimization, build system architecture, and developer workflow improvements. Key responsibilities include:
- Re-architecting build and compute infrastructure to deliver a delightful developer experience
- Leveraging containerization, remote caching, and job orchestration to optimize build setup and runtime performance
- Analyzing system usage patterns to improve time-to-insight in the build system
- Understanding and improving developer workflows to reduce onboarding friction for new team members
- Balancing workflow improvements with cost efficiency across the infrastructure
You should have a deep understanding of cloud platform architecture (networking, security, storage, resilient topologies), hands-on experience with CI/CD practices, and proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform. Experience with Bazel is valued. You'll write and maintain software in Go, Python, or C++. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience is required.
This is a full-time, regular position offering competitive base salary ($200,000–$240,000 annually), equity in the form of stock options, comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, sick leave, holiday pay, and 401(k) matching. The company uses E-Verify for employment eligibility confirmation. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates. Note: FAA Part 107 certification is strongly encouraged within the first 60 days and required for certain positions.
