Salary: USD 157,000 - 184,000 / annual
Chainguard is a venture-backed software supply-chain security company that delivers hardened, secure, production-ready builds of open source software. The company serves Fortune 500 enterprises and industry leaders including OpenAI, Snap, Snowflake, and HPE.
You will join the Developer Platform team as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to the internal "Factory" that powers Chainguard's engineering operations. This team owns the end-to-end CI/CD pipeline, an agentic AI platform called DriftlessAF, shared build infrastructure, and the validation/review/deployment foundation. The role focuses on eliminating developer toil and accelerating the path from CVE disclosure to hardened artifacts reaching customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating on technical implementation across the Developer Platform
- Improving monorepo CI/CD pipeline speed, reliability, and developer experience
- Productionizing the agentic AI platform, including agent observability, RAG, and context-engineering patterns
- Consolidating fragmented build systems and delivering standardized "paved road" blueprints for product onboarding
- Partnering with engineers company-wide to identify toil and automate repetitive work
- Participating in design and code reviews, contributing to engineering velocity and operational excellence
Required qualifications: 4+ years building and operating production services and platform infrastructure in modern cloud environments; proficiency with Go or strong readiness to learn it; experience with CI/CD systems, container orchestration, and large monorepo tooling; AI-forward mindset and ability to connect technical experience with modern AI-driven development practices (LLM automation, context engineering); excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfort with ambiguity and data-driven improvements in a high-paced "ship it" culture.
Desirable experience includes scaling GitHub Actions, Argo Workflows, or Buildkite; DORA/SPACE metrics and instrumentation; operating large Go monorepos; familiarity with supply chain security, container ecosystems (OCI, Kubernetes), or open source communities; running stakeholder feedback loops with engineering teams.
