As a Senior Software Engineer on the newly formed Developer Experience Engineering team, you'll build internal platforms, tooling, and AI-powered workflows that remove friction from the engineering process. Your mission is to make every engineer at ClassDojo more effective by eliminating time spent on builds, environment setup, manual workflows, and unnecessary complexity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build internal platforms and developer workflows that improve the experience of developing, testing, reviewing, deploying, and operating software
- Identify high-leverage opportunities where platform investments create outsized impact across the engineering organization
- Build practical AI-powered workflows that help engineers write, review, test, and ship software more effectively
- Partner deeply with product engineering, infrastructure, security, and technical leaders to understand pain points and prioritize solutions
- Create reusable tools, automation, documentation, and self-service capabilities that become the preferred way engineers work
- Measure impact using engineering metrics, developer feedback, and adoption data to continuously improve the developer experience
- Contribute to technical direction and engineering standards as an early member of the Developer Experience Engineering team
You combine exceptional software engineering with product thinking, treating engineers as customers and building solutions they genuinely enjoy using. You have extensive experience building production software in modern engineering organizations and enjoy solving organization-wide engineering problems. You demonstrate strong technical judgment, thrive in ambiguity, and build trust through partnership and influence. You care deeply about engineering craftsmanship and measure success through the impact your work has on other engineers.
Ideal candidates have experience with Developer Experience or Platform Engineering teams, internal developer platforms, CI/CD and release engineering, AI-assisted software development, or engineering productivity measurement frameworks like DORA or SPACE. Experience in high-growth engineering organizations where platform investments had organization-wide impact is valuable.
