Iterable is a leading AI-powered customer engagement platform trusted by 1,200+ brands globally (including Redfin, SeatGeek, Priceline, Calm, Box) to activate customer data, design cross-channel interactions, and optimize engagement at scale.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Developer Platform Team, you will own and improve the foundational systems that Iterable engineers depend on daily to build, test, deploy, and operate services reliably at scale. This is a hands-on senior role spanning the full developer workflow: from Scala and Bazel build systems through CI infrastructure, deployment orchestration, and Kubernetes/cloud runtime platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own the end-to-end developer delivery path: improve build, test, packaging, deployment, and validation systems across local development, CI, and production rollout workflows.
• Lead shared engineering foundations: evolve common libraries, build patterns, service templates, and paved-path workflows that multiple teams depend on.
• Drive CI performance and reliability: optimize build/test feedback loops, runner health, workload placement, and failure isolation to deliver faster, more predictable results.
• Strengthen deployment infrastructure: own GitOps workflows, rollout orchestration, self-service deployment tooling, and operational debugging/recovery paths.
• Operate platform runtime infrastructure: improve Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure including cluster behavior, node-pool strategy, workload scheduling, and reliability guardrails.
• Convert friction into leverage: diagnose recurring failure modes across build, CI, deploy, and runtime systems, then solve through automation, better defaults, observability, and platform improvements.
• Apply AI safely: use tools like Cursor and Claude for codebase migrations, CI triage, and platform automation with strong verification.
• Partner across engineering: guide adoption, explain trade-offs, lead migrations, and make the paved path easier over time.
You bring strong software engineering fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to own ambiguous, cross-cutting platform problems from diagnosis through rollout. While deep familiarity with Iterable's exact stack (Scala, Java, Kotlin, Bazel, Kubernetes) is not required, you should be comfortable learning deeply, operating in shared production systems, and building tools that other engineers depend on daily.
