TRM Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Data Product team to design and build mission-critical data services that analyze blockchain transaction activity at petabyte scale. The role focuses on architecting highly scalable features that integrate with dozens of blockchains, designing intricate data models for optimal storage and retrieval to support sub-second latency queries, and collaborating across data scientists, backend engineers, and product managers to implement novel solutions.
Key responsibilities include building scalable data infrastructure for blockchain analysis, designing and optimizing data models for performance and cost efficiency, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into technical solutions, and mentoring other engineers. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on experience in architecting scalable systems and distributed architectures, with proven ability to guide projects from conception through production deployment.
Required technical skills include proficiency in Python, SQL/SparkSQL, and deep experience with data stores like BigQuery and Postgres. Preferred experience includes data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, DBT), data processing technologies (Dataflow, Spark, Kafka, Flink), cloud infrastructure deployment (Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Datadog), and ideally exposure to LLMs or AI-powered workflows. The role values clear technical communication, ability to simplify complexity, cost-consciousness in system design, and a track record of building systems from scratch rather than maintaining legacy code.
