StarTree is building the world's most comprehensive cloud analytics system around Apache Pinot, a distributed analytics data store powering real-time analytical applications at scale. Pinot is used by companies like LinkedIn, Uber, Target, Stripe, and others to execute high-throughput analytical queries within milliseconds.
You will join the data platform engineering team to design, develop, and test distributed software applications that power real-time analytics infrastructure. Your responsibilities include:
- Design and develop fault-tolerant distributed systems that ensure service availability and handle catastrophic failures gracefully
- Implement solutions for low-latency, high-throughput analytical query execution
- Evaluate and analyze requirements from other engineering teams and translate them into technical implementations
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve urgent software issues in production services
- Leverage monitoring and alerting services to diagnose and solve complex programming problems at scale
You should have strong fundamentals in distributed systems, databases, and systems programming. Required skills include proficiency in Java, Go, or Python; solid understanding of relational databases and SQL; experience with production debugging and monitoring; knowledge of OS concepts including networking, multi-threading, and POSIX; and familiarity with tools like Maven, git, and Linux scripting.
