Salary: USD 148,000 - 222,000 / annual
Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Platform team in Boston. The Data Platform team builds and maintains mission-critical data and analytics infrastructure that powers core Klaviyo functionality and enables data-driven insights across the organization.
In this role, you will design, build, and maintain large-scale real-time data analytics infrastructure. You will work cross-functionally to write technical design documents, create system infrastructure, write high-quality code, and operate production systems at scale. You will also review other engineers' designs and code, and provide technical mentorship to team members and the broader engineering organization.
Klaviyo operates a real-time data analytics platform written primarily in Python, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The team works with a modern tech stack including Terraform, Kubernetes, Clickhouse, DynamoDB, MySQL, Kafka, Spark, Flink, Iceberg, Airflow, and DataHub.
The role involves designing and operating distributed systems in cloud environments, working with high-volume data processing and storage systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges. You will be expected to move out of your comfort zone, learn new technologies, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Up to 10% travel may be required for new hire onboarding, team meetings, and industry events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BA or BS degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Highly skilled in at least one modern programming language
- Experience provisioning infrastructure using Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools
- Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in cloud computing environments
- Experience with Linux operating systems
- Experience with OLTP and OLAP databases
- Experience with high-volume data processing and storage systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on teams
- Ability to learn continuously and adapt to high-growth environments
- Ability to persist through and solve difficult problems
