Harvey is an AI platform transforming legal and professional services through frontier agentic AI and enterprise-grade infrastructure. As one of the first hires on the central data platform team, you'll architect and build the systems that enable every team at Harvey to work with data confidently and independently.
You'll own the data platform's technical direction and architecture, treating data infrastructure as a software product. Your charter spans the full modern data stack: building reliable streaming and batch ingestion paths into Snowflake with CDC off production systems, orchestration with schema evolution that absorbs upstream change, transformation and compute frameworks, self-serve tooling for product engineers and analysts, real-time stream processing for time-sensitive use cases, and the quality, lineage, and governance layers that make the system trustworthy.
A critical constraint: handling PII correctly and honoring multi-region data residency aren't optional features—they're built-in requirements for customers among the most security-conscious institutions in the world.
You'll sit between Analytics, Data Engineering, product teams, and Infrastructure, transforming today's distributed and improvised work into a coherent system. You'll set technical standards through design reviews, documentation, and mentorship as the team grows.
Required: 5+ years building and operating production data infrastructure with ownership of systems other teams depend on. Deep expertise with Snowflake (or BigQuery/Databricks/Redshift), hands-on CDC and streaming pipelines (Kafka, Debezium, Flink, Spark Streaming), managed ingestion tools (Fivetran, Airbyte), workflow orchestration at scale (Temporal, Airflow, Dagster), strong Python and advanced SQL, experience building frameworks for other engineers, and practical data quality/observability/lineage work.
